Brewers’ outfield prospect Lorenzo Cain tore a PCL ligament in his left knee, after he tried to make a diving catch last Thursday in a game for Double-A Huntsville.
He’s expected to be out 4-6 weeks, and will not need season-ending surgery.
The 23-year-old Cain is listed as Milwaukee’s sixth-best prospect by Baseball America magazine.
Meanwhile, Brewers’ right-hander Mark Rogers missed his last start for Class-A Brevard County, after he hit his right shoulder on the outfield wall at batting practice.
General manager Doug Melvin said it was nothing more than a bruise.
Rogers was the Brewers’ first-round draft choice in 2004, and has missed the last two seasons after shoulder operations. He has pitched five and one-third scoreless innings in two appearances this season.
