Brett Favre will stay retired for now.
He reportedly called the Minnesota Vikings to say he won’t consider a comeback at the moment.
NFL sources said Favre had planned to meet this week with Vikings’ coach Brad Childress. But Bus Cook, the agent for the three-time MVP quarterback, said Favre told him Thursday that he won’t join the Vikes and Favre didn’t know how all the speculation got started.
He became a free agent when the New York Jets released him last month.
To return, Favre, 39, would have needed surgery to fix a torn biceps tendon in his throwing arm.
The Vikings are left with quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels.
But Cook won’t deny that Favre could still get the itch to return in the summer, once the mini-camps get going.
