Appreciates Dennis Toll

I was disappointed to hear that Dennis Toll will no longer be serving as associate principal of Hudson High School. As a 2002 graduate of HHS, I feel compelled to publicly thank him for his service to the School District of Hudson and, more personally, express my gratitude for the impact he has had on my life.

No parking signs

I am a resident of Hudson and pay taxes and walk on River Ridge Road just about every day. It has no-parking signs along one side of the road, but a couple of months ago, they installed no-parking signs along the other side too. They were up less than a month, then suddenly taken down.

Last Wednesday’s rioting in Atlanta over applications for government-subsidized housing was different from the usual gatherings of people demanding government handouts: It was spontaneous, unlike the staged and scripted ones that the Democrats and their affiliate organizations often manufacture.

Qualifies statement

Lest I leave the impression from my talk to the noon Rotary Club that only farmers can solve our problem with excess phosphorus running into Lake St. Croix, I hasten to say that each of us has a role.

Questions sex education law

On Feb. 24, 2010, Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle signed the controversial Healthy Youth Act into law. This bill mandates that public school students receive training on how to participate in what the state considers safe sex.
