UW-RF Mann Valley Lab Farm west of River Falls

Two 1.5- or 2-megawatt wind turbines may eventually be built at the university’s Mann Valley Lab Farm west of River Falls off County MM in the town of Troy. A study will measure average wind speeds in that area, which show promise. The key, according to a UW-River Falls official, will be “how constant or sustained” those winds prove to be. The wind-turbine project would blend with UW-RF’s overall energy initiatives, as mandated by the state, which include renewable energy credits, renewable energy generation and energy conservation.
