This historic home at 702 Vine Street was built in 1901

This historic home at 702 Vine Street was built in 1901 by H.J. Andersen, then owner of the Andersen Lumber Company, later known as the Andersen Corporation. The Queen Anne Colonial Revival style house was of exceptional quality because Andersen supposedly hand-picked the best lumber offered by his company for the building. This corner of Vine and Ninth streets has particular significance because starting at the intersection and running east for 3.5 miles, the Yellowstone Trail was concreted and opened to traffic in October 1921. Helping paint the rock at the Andersen House on Vine Street are Networks Youth Ministries members, from left, Sarah Bauer, director Elliott Krizek, Audrey Oglesby, Christi Gratz and Nick Videtich. Another rock was painted in front of the current Vine Street Florist building at 527 Vine Street, built by famous Hudson builder Ammah Andrews. His twin brother Amasa and his son James both lived in the house in the late 1800s. Submitted photo
