Vet remembered


Eugene Richie, a World War II sailor from North Hudson who was killed in the battle of Leyte Gulf, Philippines in 1944, was honored at Veterans Day ceremonies at the St., Croix County Government Center Friday. The medals and ribbons Richie earned, including the Purple Heart, were presented by grandnephew Chris Drost, center, a St. Croix County deputy, and grandniece Shellea Altman, a former Navy Commander, right ad podium, to Louis Richie, 85, Eugene’s brother, left, and his two sisters, Margaret Richie Buttke, 96, and Mary Richie Marino, 104.
