Local photographer Larry Wendlandt photographed a Canada goose nesting near Willow River State Park. He watched the goose all through gestation (nearly four weeks). After the five goslings hatched May 3, Wendlandt said the goose and goslings joined the gander on the opposite side of the pond, the goslings taking their first swim within 24 hours of hatching.
