Margaret Renee Hagen, age 57, of Hudson, WI, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a courageous battle with cancer
Margaret Renee Hagen, age 57, of Hudson, WI, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born the daughter of Irvin and Bernice (Knutson) Borton on October 3, 1951 in Eau Claire, WI. Marge attended Longfellow Elementary and North High School in Eau Claire. She would go on to attend the university there, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in music education. Marge took a job as a music teacher in Pearl City, IL where she taught her passion for music. After a time, she returned to Eau Claire where she met a young man named Bob Hagen. Her and Bob dated for a time and in 1985 the two were joined in marriage. The Hagen family moved to River Falls and Margaret found a job working for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. In 1990 the family made one more move to North Hudson, where they gave birth to their son, Tom.
Margaret enjoyed staying active in any way possible. With her passion for music she became a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church Choir while at home she kept busy with her beautiful flower gardens. She loved camping in various state parks in Minnesota and Wisconsin with her family and alongside her husband, she created some friendly cribbage and 500 rivalries with the neighbors and friends. She also enjoyed getting out on links and challenging the various golf courses in the area. Above all, she always loved spending time with her family whom she loved & cherished.
Margaret is survived by her; husband, Bob & son, Tom. She is also survived by her; mother Bernice Borton of Eau Claire, WI; brother, Bob (Kay) Borton of Cornell, WI; sister, Ann (Steve) Robertson of Scottsdale, AZ; nieces, Stacy, Melanie, Sara & Katie; nephews, Joe, Chris & Andy; sister-in-law, Sue Hagen of Spooner, WI; many aunts, uncles, cousins & close friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Irvin.
A Funeral Service will be held for Marge at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18th at Bethel Lutheran Church, 920 Third St., Hudson. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at church and Friday, July 17th from 5 until 8:00 PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 715-386-3725.
