Ruth E. Clexton, age 90, of Prescott, Wis., died on Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minn.

Ruth E. Clexton, age 90, of Prescott, Wis., died on Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minn.

Ruth was born on Nov. 19, 1921, to Ernest and Emily Johnson in Taylors Falls, Minn. An only child, she grew up in Center City, Minn., on the family farm. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1941 with a degree in business administration and began her high school teaching career. On June 24, 1950, she was married to Robert Clexton in the Chisago Lake Evangelical Lutheran Church. The marriage would be blessed with a son, Ronald. The Clexton family would settle in St. Paul where Ruth would then find work as a legal secretary. Shortly after, following her father's passing, Ruth and Robert moved to Center City. It was then that Ruth returned to teaching in the local school district. She would teach for 35 years in various schools including Amery, Wis.; Eyota, Minn.; Lindstrom, Minn.; and St. Paul, Minn. She retired from teaching in 1987. The family would live in White Bear Lake and Hudson before settling in Prescott.

Ruth and Robert enjoyed their retirements with traveling and visiting friends and family. Ruth was a dedicated wife and mother. Her hobby was her family and her dog. Most recently, she was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Ruth will be missed by her family and friends. This includes her husband, Robert; son, Ron, and daughter-in-law, Carol.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services for Ruth will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Bethel Lutheran Church - Highlands Campus, 504 Frontage Rd., Hudson. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to services. Burial will follow at the Bethel Highlands Columbarium. Memorials given will be given to a charity in Ruth's name.
