Mary Alice Kopp, age 50, of Lakeland, partner with Kopp & Daughters Sign Service, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, after a brief illness.

Mary Alice Kopp, age 50, of Lakeland, partner with Kopp & Daughters Sign Service, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, after a brief illness.

Mary was born on Oct. 2, 1961, in St. Paul, Minn., the fourth daughter of Lyman George Jr. and Barbara E. (Husnik) Kopp. She was a 1979 graduate of Stillwater school systems and St. Paul Technical Institute sign painters apprenticeship program. Mary worked side-by-side with her dad, Lyman, creating business signs or handmade Christmas presents.

She had a fond respect for the outdoors; liked camping and chopping and cutting wood with her chainsaw; and loved animals. She also enjoyed music from classical to the Doors and Pink Floyd, and played the piano.

She will remain in the hearts of her loving daughter, Emily Rae Lobitz; parents, Lyman George and Barbara Kopp; siblings Susan (Andy) Casillas, Cheryl Ann Kopp, Laura Kopp, Lyman George Kopp III; nieces and nephews, Laura Kopp, Ana Casillas, Lyman George Kopp IV, and many fine, fine friends, and special pets Spike, Sugar, and Two Marks.

She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Kopp and brother-in-law Brian Horvath.

On Thursday, Jan. 19, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Lake St. Croix Beach, Minn., visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Fr. Jerry Keiser officiating. Memorials are preferred to the family.
