Robert K. "Jack" Brande, age 95, formerly of North Hudson, passed away Jan. 23 at the American Heritage Care Center, in Hammond.
Robert was born on Nov. 7, 1916, in Popejoy, Iowa, the son of James W. and Annette Marie (Koelder) Brande. Jack grew up working on his family farm. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1939 until his honorable discharge in June of 1945. He was united in marriage on Dec. 31, 1946, to Margaret Seekins. Their marriage was blessed with three children. After his service time, Jack worked on his family farm in North Hudson, as well as the North Hudson Car Shop in the mid-1950s. He also worked in the construction business for many years, employed with John Peterson Construction. He entered the National Guard and worked as a cook for over 20 years.
Jack loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening and the bounties of his garden in which he enjoyed canning. He also took interest in raising pigeons.
Robert will remain in the hearts of his daughter, Sharon Ann Roos, of New Richmond; grandchildren, Yvonne Belland, Richard R. (Tammy) Roos and Rebecca (Scott) Fraser; five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, and Jarica Roos, Stephanie (Grant) Ruhoff and Nicholas Belland; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Seekins) Brande; his sons, Robert J. Brande and Kenneth Warner; brothers, James Brande and Patrick Brande; and parents, James W. Brande and A. Marie.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hudson, with Pastor Fred Golke officiating. Visitation was 1 hour prior the service at church. Interment took place at Willow River Cemetery of Hudson, with full military honors.
