Emogene 'Jeanne' Johnson, 88

Emogene "Jeanne" Johnson, age 88, of Hudson, formerly of River Falls, died Monday, Feb. 20, at Red Cedar Canyon Assisted Living in Hudson.

Emogene "Jeanne" Johnson, age 88, of Hudson, formerly of River Falls, died Monday, Feb. 20, at Red Cedar Canyon Assisted Living in Hudson.

She was born the daughter of George and Myrtle (Hemenway) Freese on Aug. 22, 1923, in Dows, Iowa. She worked for the State of Minnesota, was the financial advisor for the family farm and a proud homemaker.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil "Shorty" Johnson; sister Ardith Kukuska; and brother Kenneth Freese.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by her children, Roger (Debrah) Johnson of New Richmond, Greg (Cathy) Johnson of River Falls, Cheryl Johnson of Roberts, Kendra (Jim "Stan") Margl of Houlton, Warren (Debra) Johnson of Hudson; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Eldon (JoAnne) Freese of Grantsburg; sister Patricia (Harlyn) Pribnow of New Richmond; sister-in-law Marilyn Freese of River Falls; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the United Methodist Church in River Falls. Visitation was also on Saturday from 2-3 p.m. at the church. Interment was private.

Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
