Robert C. "Bob" Haugen, 71, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark.
Robert C. "Bob" Haugen, 71, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark.
He was born on Dec, 17, 1940, to William E. Haugen Sr. and Gwendolyn Haugen. Bob grew up in Hudson, Wis., where he was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Hudson H.S. in 1959. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he enrolled at the UW-River Falls, where he completed several semesters and was in theater productions, including a leading role in "The Fantasticks."
On August 26, 1967, Bob was united in marriage to Joanne Klecker in River Falls, Wis. They were later divorced. He married Beatrice "Bea" Chavez on Jan. 16, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nev. Following their retirements in 2004, Bob and Bea moved from St. Paul, Minn., to the Mountain Home area, where he was an active member of Moose Lodge Post #1953.
Bob is survived by his wife, Beatrice; a daughter, Marnie Haugen; a son, Paul Haugen (Jowita) and a granddaughter, Maya Haugen, all of River Falls. He is also survived by three step-sons, Richard (Jerilynn) Wolff of Blaine, Minn., Bill (Deanna) Wolff of Cleveland, Mo., and Chris Wolff of Peoria, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Linda (Michael) Hogan of Forrest Lake, Minn.; and 16 step-grandchildren and 22 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, William E. Haugen, Jr. (Arlene) of LaPorte, Ind., and a sister, Marion Kyle (Ben) of Manhattan, Kan., and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Thomas Haugen.
The visitation for Bob was held at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home on Feb. 27 and the funeral service was held there on Feb. 28 with full military honors. Cremation followed the funeral service. There will be an inurnment ceremony at Fort Snelling, Minn., at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 7.
