Loretta Mae Smith of Osceola went to be with her Lord Savior on Thursday, March 8, at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond at the age of 67.

Loretta was born on Jan. 20, 1945, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Mildred and Cecil Willis. Loretta attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., where she met Ted Smith. Ted and Loretta were married on June 1, 1968. After graduating from Asbury College, Loretta went on to various teaching jobs. Loretta had a special love for children and teaching. Loretta's immensely strong faith and character changed the lives of everyone she met. She ministered with Ted throughout the years and especially loved singing hymns and the "old Gospel" songs. After moving to Wisconsin, Ted and Loretta started their family where Chris and Becky were born. Loretta stressed the importance of faith and family with her kids but no one brought a smile to Loretta's face like her grandson, Josh. Loretta died on March 8, 2012 in New Richmond.

Loretta was preceded in death by father, Cecil Willis; sister, Laura Lee Marsh.

Survived by mother, Mildred Willis; husband, Ted Smith; son, Chris Smith; daughter, Becky Smith; grandson, Joshua Smith; and many, many friends who she considered to be family.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 13, at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola with Pastor Gaye Friesinger officiating. Interment was in the St. Peters Cemetery in Dresser.
