Carol Jean Bevers, age 80, of Hudson, died peacefully Thursday, April 12, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson, surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was born on Dec. 21, 1931, in Vienna, S.D., the daughter of Elmer and Hazel (Uckert) Robish. She was raised in South Dakota where she attended Hazel Elementary School prior to graduating from Thomas High School. On Nov. 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dwayne Bevers at Carol's parents' home. This union would be further blessed with six children. Besides being a dedicated homemaker, she worked many years as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company and later the 3M Company in St. Paul. After her retirement, she continued working as a playground supervisor for the Hudson School District.
First and foremost, Carol cherished her family. She loved cooking and entertaining family and friends. Cooking gave her the greatest pleasure. She enjoyed watching a good softball or baseball game, sewing, and square dancing earlier in life. Furthermore, she loved sneaking an occasional trip to the casino and her favorite nightcap. Bingo and the nickel slots were her favorites. She always looked forward to their camping trips, and wintering down south in Arizona.
Carol will forever remain in the hearts of her husband, Dwayne; children, Roger (Patsy) Bevers, Beth (Dewey) Swanson, Keith (Becky) Bevers, Sandra (Doug) Klatt, Tony (Tracy) Bevers, Colleen (Andy) Enloe; grandchildren Brian (Tonia) Bevers, Jason (Sonya) Swanson, Jeremy (Amy) Swanson, Justin (Leigh) Klatt, Christopher (Wendy) Bevers, Tyler (Ali) Bevers, Dustin (Arielle) Handevidt, Jeffrey (Abby) Klatt, Trevor Bevers, Nikki (Ryan) Anderson, Jodi (Travis) Gibson, Heidi (Eric) Shimon, Katie (Ryan) Hill, Tierney Bevers, Jackie (Matt) Morris; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Ethel Troska; and brother-in-law Lynn Hawkins.
Carol joins her parents; brothers, Harold, Orvis "Bud" (Ruby); sisters Mavis (Howard) Jernberg, Doris (Leon) Gunther, Lois Hawkins, and brother-in-law James Troska; and three grandchildren, Joseph Klatt, Tory and Tara Bevers.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the United Methodist Church in Hudson, with Pastor Bruce Stunkard officiating. Burial will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson with her grandsons acting as active casketbearers and granddaughters as honorary casketbearers. Visitation was from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Monday morning. Memorials preferred.
