Georgia Jean Gies, age 61, of Hudson, passed away April 17 at the Christian Community Home of Hudson.

Georgia was born on June 12, 1950, in River Falls, Wis., the daughter of George and Jean (Dorwin) Gies. She was a 1969 graduate of Hudson High School. Georgia attended Red Wing Vocational Institute where she received an administrative assistant degree. She worked in telecommunications for State Farm Insurance while living in Albuquerque, N.M., and more recently as a cashier with County Market in Hudson.
In her spare time, Georgia enjoyed crocheting, spending time with family and friends, and volunteering. She also had a love for music and enjoyed performing with the Oratorio Society at the Phipps Center for the Arts.
Georgia is survived by her brother, John (Pearl) Gies of Hudson; nephew, Chris (Aimee) of Hudson; and great-nieces, Lily and Greta Gies of Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jean Gies; and her sister, Linda.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 23, at O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. A gathering of family and friends will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Willow River Cemetery of Hudson.
