Barbara Knight Kohl (nee Miller), age 76, of Lakeland, Minn., passed away peacefully on May 6.

Barbara was born in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Evelyn and Laverne Miller. She graduated from Stillwater High School and began her working career at Connolly Shoe Company of Stillwater. She changed jobs in 1956 and retired as an executive secretary of Gould National Batteries Inc. of St. Paul in 2000. Barbara was united in marriage to Lyle Kohl in Hudson in 1955. Their 11-year marriage was blessed with two children, Rory and Genevieve.
Barbara loved music, reading, crafts and quilting. She was fortunate to have traveled extensively, traveling to all 50 states, and all around the world. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson since 1955.
Barbara is survived by her son, Rory Kohl of Lakeland, and his daughter, Jessica; her daughter, Genevieve (Dennis) Chrisman of Parkville, Mo., and their children, Zachary, Elliot, and Hunter; sisters, Romelle Kelly of River Falls and Brooke (Jerry) Lee of Cumberland, Wis.; brother, Mark (Diana) Miller of Stillwater; many nieces, nephews, friends, and the Kohl family in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Laverne Miller.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1205 Sixth St., Hudson, with Pastor Fred Golke officiating. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeland. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, Wis., 715-386-3725.

I used to work with Barb at GNB. She always loved to laugh, but still managed to keep any dignity in doing so. I was shocked to see her in the paper. It sounds like she kept up her pace in retirement. It was always a pleasure to talk to her about any subject.Prescott, WI 05/23/2012 12:00 PM
