Charles A. Thompson, age 79, of Roberts, passed away June 1 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Charles A. Thompson, age 79, of Roberts, passed away June 1 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Charles was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Bayport, Minn., the son of Harry Sr. and Ruth (Gardner) Thompson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Charles worked as a cook for many years.

He enjoyed family gatherings, cookouts, fishing, and playing roll poker with his family.

He is survived by his children, Melissa Thompson of Ridgeland, Michelle Thompson (Stewart Carrick) of Woodville, Sean (Mary Jo) Thompson of Hammond, and Gordon Thompson of Roberts; grandchildren, Brittney, Harley, Tanis, Thor, Samantha, Zach, Talia, Shylow, and Mason; brother, Harry Thompson Jr.; sister, Marsha Baribeau; and daughter-in-law at heart, Lynda Sprecher.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew; six siblings; and his parents.

Funeral services for Charles will take place 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, at O'Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
