Eugene William Senrick, age 83, of St. Joseph Township, Wis., died Monday, June 18, at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater.
Eugene William Senrick, age 83, of St. Joseph Township, Wis., died Monday, June 18, at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater.
Gene W. Senrick was born on July 4, 1928, at home in St. Joseph Township, the son of Elmer and Erna (Rehder) Senrick. He attended Elm Park Grade School in St. Joseph Township and graduated in 1946 from Stillwater High School.
He was married on June 17, 1950, to Delores Simpson, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stillwater. Gene farmed his entire life and retired in 1996 when the farm sold to White Eagle Golf Course. At that time, he took up golf and played several times a week thereafter.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and ball player, with at least 37 fishing trips to Canada, and enjoyed playing softball till he was 65 years old. Furthermore, he and Delores traveled to every state in the continental United States, sometimes more than once. His trips to Europe and Switzerland were also very memorable. He was also a member of the St. Joe's Fire Department for 37 years.
Gene is survived by his wife, Delores; his daughters, Debrah (Roger) Johnson of New Richmond, Wis., and Cathy (Don) Gilbert of St. Joseph Township, Wis.; his sons, Steven (Jan) Senrick of St. Joseph Township, and Scott Senrick of St. Joseph Township; grandchildren, Adam, Brian, Callie, and David Gilbert, Joel Senrick, Amy Perkins, Megan Moon, and Jordon, Jocelyn, Josh, and Kyle Senrick, and Kristi and Tara Ostendorf; eight great-grandchildren; and extended family.
His parents preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, at the Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Houlton, 285 County Rd. E, Houlton, Wis. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, also at Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Houlton. Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery, Houlton. Memorials preferred.
Funeral services entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.

Gene was a wonderful person, a great man, and a man among men. I will always cherish the memories of bowling and golfing with Gene as he was a true sportsman and a great friend. Memories and stories about Gene and his fun loving nature will live on for ever!Hudson, WI 06/20/2012 9:19 AM
