Dorene Rae Wiesner, age 81, of Hudson, passed away Aug. 9 at the Christian Community Home of Hudson.

Dorene was born on Aug. 28, 1930, in Stutsman County, N.D., the daughter of Frank and Lois (Smith) McKee. Dorene grew up on the family farm and graduated high school in New Auburn, Wis. She was united in marriage on April 10, 1953, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to Robert Donald Wiesner. Their marriage was blessed with seven children: Jim, David, Suzanne, Charlie, Tammy, Patty, and Chris. At that time, Dorene and Robert moved to the Twin Cities, and Dorene took a job for Univac. Throughout her career, Dorene worked as a secretary for the St. Paul school district as well as Admiral Merchants.
In her spare time, she enjoyed doing needlework, playing bingo, cards, and being in cribbage tournaments. After retirement, Dorene and Robert moved to Chippewa Falls and were fortunate to travel across much of the United States together. Dorene will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her family.
She is survived by her children, Jim (Sharon) Wiesner, David Wiesner (Diane Handford), Suzanne (David) Benson, Charlie Wiesner, Tammy (Danny) Harty, Patty Bostrom, and Chris Kagigebi; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Dorene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Frank and Lois McKee; great-grandson Tre Bildeau; daughter-in-law Karen Wiesner; and son-in-law Doug Kagigebi.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 520 S. 11th St. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with Pastor Tony Rambo officiating.
