Steven Michael Skaare, age 49, of 637 Emery St., Stanley, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 8, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Steven Michael Skaare, age 49, of 637 Emery St., Stanley, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 8, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1963, in Minot, N.D., the son of William and Sally (Lemke) Skaare. He grew up in St. Paul, Minn., and Hudson, Wis., graduating from Hudson High School in 1981. On Nov. 5, 1983, he was united in marriage to Jane Larson at the Holcombe United Methodist Church in Holcombe, Wis. They lived in Cornell, Cadott, and then moved to Stanley where they have resided for the last 16 years. Steve farmed, worked at Swiderski Implement, drove truck, and worked for Andy Slowiak as of late.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughters, Kimberly Skaare and Katharine (Brandon) Geist, all of Stanley, and Kelsey Skaare (special friend, Levi Slowiak) of Wausau, Wis.; his parents, William (Bill) and Sally Skaare of Hudson; brother, Kevin (Nadine) Skaare, Zachary and Andrew of River Falls, Wis.; sister, Lisa (Ronald) Rowan, Nicholas and Jessica of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; uncle, Jim Skaare and family of Rockvale, Tenn.; aunt Marilyn (Gene) Fober and family of Fortson, Ga.; mother- and father-in-law, Ervin and Mary Jane Larson of Holcombe, Wis.; sister-in-law, Chris (Jim) Paradies, Tammy (Ryan) Haas and family, Teresa and Tonia of Stanley; brother-in-law, Lonny (Tracey) Larson, Sam and Olivia of Lublin, Wis.; and special friends, Stacey Williams and Brennan Geist.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and aunt Pat Lemke.

Steve loved his Minnesota Vikings and Twins and Stanley-Boyd Orioles of which he so enjoyed going to his daughters sporting events and working in the press box. He was a current middle school football coach and also co-chairman of the Stanley Rodeo, former president of the Stanley FFA Alumni, and former member of the Stanley Area Jaycees. He was also one of the founders of the Chippewa Valley Youth Football in Stanley.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, with Fr. William Felix officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Holcombe cemetery. Friends and family may call on Thursday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley, and 1 hour prior to services on Friday morning.

Memorials will be given to local organizations of the family's choice.
