Gregory Jon Ring died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 30.
Greg was born March 20, 1958, to Janice Faye (Breault) and George Ring, and remained a lifelong resident of Somerset, Wis. Greg was an encyclopedia of sports knowledge, with an emphasis on his home-state teams from elementary school through professional levels. His other great passion was finding joy in stirring the pot at work and watching the ensuing chaos with a wide grin. However, Greg was happiest whenever surrounded by family and friends, whether it be around the kitchen table or the pool. Greg worked hard and dedicated his life to his girls – MaryAnn, Stephanie, Sadie (deceased), Kellie, and the family pugs, Trixie and Lola. Greg often displayed this love by teasing and harassing his ladies relentlessly, with his merriment increasing the more riled up they became. Without knowing Greg, you may think it is cruel, but knowing him, you just couldn’t help but join in.
Greg was preceded in death by his daughter Sadie Lynn Ring.
Greg is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; daughters Stephanie and Kellie; parents, George and Janice Faye Ring; siblings, Rod, Shelley (Waco), Mike, Monique (Mike), Pat (Sue), Sheila; mother-in-law, Marilyn McCarty and the late J. Thomas McCarty; brothers-in-law, Tom (Darla), Jim (Shelly), and Michael (Becky) McCarty; nieces and nephews, Sarah (Vinnie) Baar, Colin (Angela) Early, Sean Early, Ben, Brady, Georgia Hammer, Roxanne Ring, Brenda McCarty, Marshall, Mitchell, Matthew McCarty, Brittany and Sean McCarty, Connor, Michaela, and Quinn Baar.
Visitation will be held at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater, Minn., from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3. Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Jan. 4, at St. Anne’s Church in Somerset; visitation from 10-11 a.m., Mass at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the scholarship fund established in memory of Greg and MaryAnn's daughter, who tragically died in 2002: Sadie Lynn Ring Memorial Scholarship Fund, Somerset High School, Somerset.
Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater, 651-439-5511.

Bob W.
MaryAnn and kids, I just learned of Greg's passing today and was shocked to say the least by the event. My most heartfelt condolences go out to you. I know that your love for Greg was boundless and he will be sorely missed by you. Those of us that counted Greg as a friend have truly lost a gem. He was always upbeat, positive and loved to laugh. We have lost a gem also. Please know that Greg, as well as your family will always remain in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless Greg and may God provide support and consolation to you.
