J. Robert "Bob" Ulman Jr., age 90, of Hudson, Wis., died on Jan. 24 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond, Wis.
J. Robert "Bob" Ulman Jr., age 90, of Hudson, Wis., died on Jan. 24 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond, Wis.
Bob was a WWII Army veteran, a double Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He started in banking in Chicago, and in 1953, the family moved to Hudson. Bob switched careers and retired after 20 years at the USPS in St. Paul, Minn. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and relaxing on his hobby farm.
Bob is survived by his wife, Meta, of 70 years, at Christian Community Home in Hudson, and children, Sharon (Thom) Brown of Cedarburg, Wis., Carol (Warren) Elsasser of Oceanside, Calif., Barbara Patrow of Goodyear, Ariz., John Robert Ulman III of Hudson, and Rick Ulman of N. Hudson, Wis., and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Bob's life will be Thursday, May 23, with a Gathering of Family and Friends from 2:30-3:30 p.m. and a memorial service at 3:30 p.m., at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 11th St. S., Hudson. Online condolences at oconnellfuneralhomes.com. Memorials to St. Croix County Veterans Service. A private interment will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
