Memorial Day observance in Hudson

Memorial Day services were held in Hudson Monday


The traditional 21-gun salute (seven guns fired three times) occurred just before the playing of taps to conclude the Memorial Day observance at Willow River Cemetery. The honor guard includes members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2115 and the American Legion Post 50.

  • The Hudson High School band, under the direction of Ryan McCarthy played several selections during the ceremony. The band also marched in a Memorial Day parade in Bayport earlier that morning.
  • Distributing flowers on veteran’s graves were Miss Hudson Queen Amanda Beyer, front, and Princess Victoria VanAntwerp, back. Also distributing flowers, but not pictured, were princesses Kaitlynn Wallace and Alexa Harris.

  • Performing the flag-raising ceremony at the Memorial Day observance were, front from left, Kyle Jantz and Cole Bredahl; back, Alex Renn, Jacob Maline, Jack Boylan and Floyd Johnson.
  • Playing taps to end the observance were Tom Schmidt, left, and Kristine Mienke. Both are members of the Hudson High School band.
