  • The O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 South 11th St., features a spacious building and a caring staff. The business is observing 25 years of service to the Hudson area with an open house Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. at the home. Submitted photo
  • The O’Connell business nearly doubled in size with an addition in 2002 off the north side of the original building. The addition featured new offices, showroom, conference rooms and a new entrance. Submitted photo
  • The Peace Garden, located in the parking lot of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, also includes a tower. Workers put on the finishing touches in 2003. The garden itself is in the shape of a cross. Submitted photo
  • In 2003, the Dan O’Connell Peace Garden was completed. The effort was spearheaded by the Lions Club, Rotary Club and Ministerial Association. Among the individuals who led the project were Fr. John Rasmus (St. Paul’s Episcopal Church), Sister Bernadette (St. Patrick Catholoic Church), Evie and John Nerbonne, Joe Kinney and wife, Peg, and Starla Enger. Submitted photo
  • Tom O’Connell, center, has always been very active in the community. This 1970 photo shows Tom working at an Elks Club dunk tank. It is one of numerous organizations in which Tom has been involved. Submitted photo
