  • The Dome of the Rock is the focal point of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. According to the New Testament, the Temple of Jerusalem played a significant role in the life of Jesus. When he was a boy, he impressed the Jewish teachers there with his knowledge. Later he was tempted by Satan to jump off the Temple to prove his status and he angrily overturned tables of moneychangers during the “Cleansing of the Temple.”
  • Western Wall or the Wailing Wall is a focus of Judaism. It is believed to be a large segment of the wall of the western side of Holy Temple in Jerusalem. The Talmud mentions that when the Temple was destroyed in 68 B.C. all the Gates of Heaven were closed except the Gate of Tears. It became known as the Wailing Wall, because of all the tears Jews have shed there.
  • Discovered in 1883, Skull Hill is the hill that led British explorers to a tomb believed to be that of Jesus. Scripture relates how Jesus was crucified at Golgotha, “the place of the skull.” The hill depicts a skull-shape only a hundred meters from the site of the tomb located outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. The tomb is considered by many to be a legitimate location for the Tomb of Jesus, as burial places were considered illegal within the city walls.
  • The star inside the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem is believed to mark the spot where Jesus Christ was born.
  • Among the many ancient and historical places of interest in Israel there are reminders of current events.

  • The alkaline shore of the Dead Sea in Israel is pronounced. The sea is the lowest point on earth in any land mass at 417 meters below sea level. The Dead Sea also has the highest concentration of salt in the world with 340 grams per liter of water.
