The Spirit… brings crowds to Hudson


Glynnis Lessing earn second place. Presently from Northfield, Minn., Lessing and her family returned to their roots after living in Chicago. Finding inspiration from her rural surrounding, her studio is in her grandfather’s old milk house. She creates narrative images primarily in black and white.

  • Don Mendenhall, a photographer from Madison, earned third place. Mendenhall prints all his own work. He has published a book and is a life coach.
  • Divine Collection entertained Sunday afternoon.
  • Terry Gallentine earned the Best In Show award. Out of the 84 artists represented at the event, Gallentine’s unique technique of merging images and glass caught the judges’ attention. Gallentine, from River Falls, has worked years to perfect his process called fired serigraphy on glass.

  • :If you visited the show and you thought the crowd was good you were correct. According the Hudson Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau over 8,000 people attended the two-day Spirit of the St. Croix Art Festival.
