It will cost hundreds of millions to implement harsher laws to combat state’s high rate of drunken driving, say agencies. The Legislative Fiscal Bureau estimates drivers in Wisconsin will consume 276 million fewer gallons of gas and diesel fuel during the next two-year budget period than the Walker administration has projected.
