Anthony Palmer Velure, 27, pleaded no contest to homicide by handling a dangerous weapon Friday, Nov. 9, in St. Croix County Circuit Court. The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and $25,000 fine.

The Raider football team used a familiar formula in its 43-6 victory over Superior at Ole Haugsrud Field in Superior Friday night. A fast start, bruising running game and smothering defense gave Hudson its sixth straight victory to start the season and kept the Raiders tied with Menomonie for first place in the big Rivers Conference with two games remaining.

A 17-year-old Oconto Falls boy will spend just over four years in prison for starting a fire that caused $2 million in damage to a Catholic grade school. Vincent Enneper was sentenced Sept. 20 for the February 21st blaze that heavily damaged Saint Anthony School in Oconto Falls.
