A music benefit for Roger Davis featuring the local band PHO will be held at Bayport BBQ on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 8 to 11 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge for the all-ages show. All proceeds will go to the Davis Fund, and donations will be welcome at the event.

Bridge bike trail plans begin to take shape
As work continues with the new St. Croix River Crossing, progress is also being made on a new pedestrian and bike trail. The 4.5 mile loop, which will utilize the Stillwater lift bridge and cross state lines, is expected to be completed by 2017.

The School Board voted to raise the salaries of a majority of Hudson School District employees recently. They indeed should be compensated for their work. However, I believe that two-thirds to three-fourths of that money should have gone to raising compensation, but one-third to one-fourth should have gone to a “rainy day fund.”
