About 30 hot air balloons lifted off from the grounds of E.P. Rock Elementary School shortly after 7:30 a.m. Saturday. While the temperature hovered around 0 degrees, a light north breeze made for a successful launch of the 24th annual Hudson Hot Air Affair.

The Hudson SAFE Committee is presenting a comedy night at the Hudson High School auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. Isaac Witty, who has appeared on David Letterman and Comedy Central, will headline the event. As work continues with the new St. Croix River Crossing, progress is also being made on a new pedestrian and bike trail. The 4.5 mile loop, which will utilize the Stillwater lift bridge and cross state lines, is expected to be completed by 2017.

Letter: Backs ‘rainy day’ fund for Hudson School District
The School Board voted to raise the salaries of a majority of Hudson School District employees recently. They indeed should be compensated for their work. However, I believe that two-thirds to three-fourths of that money should have gone to raising compensation, but one-third to one-fourth should have gone to a “rainy day fund.”
