A four-hour plus motion hearing Tuesday, March 27, for accused murderer Aaron Schaffhausen ended without him changing his plea. Schaffhausen’s lawyer, John Kucinski, had indicated in a letter earlier this week that his client might enter a plea of guilty by reason of insanity.

City worker struck in crosswalk by hit-and-run driver
A receptionist at Hudson City Hall was struck by a car as she walked across Third Street at Walnut on her way to work Monday morning. According to a witness on the scene shortly after the accident, it appeared that the woman was knocked to the pavement by the car.

The Carpenter Nature Center in Hastings has a new executive director. Jen Vieth was the unanimous choice of the three committees tasked with hiring a new leader for the non-profit center.
