Safety tips for a new school year
This fall, motorists, students, pedestrians and bicyclists have an added traffic situation with the closing of the Stillwater bridge on Sept. 10. The School District of Hudson resumes classes Tuesday, Sept. 4, and this means a time of adjustment for not only students and parents but all citizens. It is time to take a look at routines and procedures so everyone can enjoy a safe year of school.

A lot of press has been dedicated to the recent sediment spill at a sand mine near Grantsburg. This mine is also near the St. Croix River, and there is a piece of the story that I have yet to see printed. The work of a few ordinary people prevented a bigger spill.
