A 22-year-old River Falls woman lost her life in a one-car crash Friday afternoon on Hwy. 35 in Hudson. Emergency responders found Myrrhia J. Kleinbrook unresponsive inside her car after it crossed through the median and southbound lanes of the four-lane highway, and then hit a concrete culvert between the highway and the off-ramp to Hanley Road.

A few years ago Mike Brew retired from driving truck and warehouse work. He discovered that he was not destined to relax. He started repairing small engines, a skill he’s had since his youth. “I always did this,” said Brew, who tinkered with snowmobiles, 4-wheelers and motorcycles while he was growing up. Martell’s last grape harvest
The 2012 harvest at Martell Vineyards last weekend was a bittersweet event. Not only did a harsh growing year with a spring frost wipe out the La Crescent grapes and reduce the total harvest to about half last year’s 37-ton production, but also owner Tom Martell, who established the five acres of grapes outside Somerset, died just five weeks before the harvest.
