With the city of Hudson’s refusal to rezone the dog track for a secondary school site, the Hudson Board of Education gave its official approval to move ahead on a multi-phase plan that looks to find both short-term and longer term solutions to space needs at Hudson Middle School and Hudson High School.

Letter- City got it correct
Contrary to what others have stated the Planning Commission and the City Council got it “right” in regards to rezoning the Dog Track. Granted that 60 percent of the Hudson city voters voted for purchasing the dog track property. However, those votes only accounted for 26 percent of all registered voters within the city.

Profoundly disappointed is how Hudson Board of Education President Tom Holland described himself following the decision by the Hudson City Council not to rezone St. Croix Meadows for use as a school. We are all working to provide quality services in the most fiscally responsible manner. The school board is sensitive to the city's loss of $25,000 in tax revenue if they vote to rezone St. Croix Meadows from commercial to public.

We all know it didn’t make a very good gambling venture -- timing is everything. And I’ve always believed that people in Wisconsin just don’t like betting on their pets, whether they are horses or dogs.
