Kriesel gives powerful testimony at EDC banquet
John Kriesel, one of Minnesota’s best-known veterans and former Minnesota House representative, was the keynote speaker at the St. Croix County Economic Development Corporation Awards Banquet Thursday at R&D Banquet Hall in New Richmond. A double leg amputee with prosthetic legs, Kriesel now lives in Cottage Grove, Minn., and said he considers himself to be lucky.

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.

Driver flees as three Minnesota passengers hurt in Pierce County crash
A late night crash Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the town of Trenton sent three people from Red Wing, Minn., to the hospital for injuries. One passenger had to be extricated from a vehicle by Ellsworth firefighters.
