Longtime local educator Olson dies
A longtime Hudson educator, Maynard N. Olson, age 77, of North Hudson, died Friday at Christian Community Home in Hudson. Olson was an elementary coordinator at the Hudson Community Schools for 14 years from 1965 to 1979. He spent the last years in the district as a teacher at Fourth Street/Willow River Elementary before retiring in 1992.

Second-seeded Hudson breezed to a 10-0 victory over No. 15 Superior while No. 4 River Falls needed a shootout to earn a victory over No. 13 Wausau West in WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal action Tuesday, Oct. 9. Holland is 'baffled' by council’s action in light of referendum
Profoundly disappointed is how Hudson Board of Education President Tom Holland described himself following the decision by the Hudson City Council not to rezone St. Croix Meadows for use as a school. The voters, including those in the city of Hudson, approved a referendum to purchase the former St. Croix Meadows dogtrack last April.

Raider soccer wins, loses and draws
After a 5-1 victory over Eau Claire North at home last Tuesday, the Raider boys’ soccer team found the going a little tougher later in the week on the other side of the river. Hudson was outshot 23-6 in a 3-0 loss at Stillwater last Thursday and played better Saturday in Apple Valley but came away with a 0-0 tie.

Restored tractor winner
Nicholas Wasieleski, 13, an eighth-grader at Hudson Middle School, was the youngest exhibitor of restored tractors at the Fall Festival on at the St. Joseph Town Hall. Nicholas, with the guidance of Tom Syverson of Johnny’s TV, completely restored this 1948 John Deere Model M tractor. The project took one and one-half years to complete.
