The Hudson Board of Education has approved the hiring of Travis Barringer as the new principal of River Crest Elementary School beginning this summer.

Toy box project inspired by late Grant Truhler
Grant Truhler was a student at Houlton Elementary who was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor when he was a third grader (2005). He died in the fall of 2007 while in fifth grade.

River Crest takes the gold
River Crest Elementary is only the second elementary school in the nation and the first in Wisconsin to earn the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) Gold Award from the U.S. Green Building Council, a third-party environmental certification organization.

Police investigate alleged fake school bus
Three second-grade girls said an unmarked yellow mini-bus approached their stop and the driver told them that their bus had broken down and that the girls were supposed to get on the mini-bus which would take them to school.
