Appreciated two leaders
We lost two very good people! Ed Lucas and Denny Toll, our principal and assistant principal, worked long hours and gave every ounce of their souls to create a quality environment for young men and women in which to learn and mature.By Deb Meyer, Hudson , September 03, 2010
Upset with bow hunt
Why are people in the city of Hudson not informed of the Deer Hunt? Very few people have been notified of the possibility of a bow hunter sitting near their homes from September until January with the hopes of killing the deer in the city limits.By Jeff Richie, Hudson , September 03, 2010
Candidate offers ideas
Corporations are sending our jobs overseas because it is profitable for them to do so. We must make it unprofitable.By Michael Krsiean, Houlton , September 03, 2010
Has info on fertilizers
Susan Hertog’s letter last week questioning the necessity of fertilizer in Lakefront Park struck me as a perfect example of how the lack of information may lead to the wrong conclusion.By Barry Waters, Hudson , September 03, 2010
Appreciated assistance
There are times in life when you meet people who go above and beyond to help others. A lot of times these acts of kindness go unmentioned.By Rich Blackwell, Hudson , September 03, 2010
Stimulus slush fund
The Stimulus Bill was $862 billion. It was guaranteed to “create or save” a million jobs and keep unemployment below 8 percent. Unemployment is at 9.7 percent and the economy continues to shed jobs rapidly. And where is all of the stimulus money being spent to “create or save” jobs?By Sandy Gehrke, Hudson , September 03, 2010
Concerned about spending
Obama’s reckless spending has cost more than the entire Iraq War. A painful fact Democrats must reckon with come election time in November.By Ray Hornung, Town of Hudson , September 03, 2010
Candidates and money
Here are two sentences I never want to hear again: “I’d vote for that candidate if s/he had more money. But I have to throw my vote to the candidate who can win [i.e. has more money].”By Mary Wekkin, Hudson , September 03, 2010
Defends Kapanke
I thought this would happen as soon as the polls showed that Dan Kapanke could beat Ron Kind in the 3rd District. And sure enough, the Big Money Machine in Washington seems to have all guns a blazing and aimed right at Kapanke.By Kevin Parent, New Richmond , September 03, 2010
Appreciates Dennis Toll
I was disappointed to hear that Dennis Toll will no longer be serving as associate principal of Hudson High School. As a 2002 graduate of HHS, I feel compelled to publicly thank him for his service to the School District of Hudson and, more personally, express my gratitude for the impact he has had on my life.By Jill (Redding) Boyd, Eden Prairie, Minn. , August 27, 2010
Fertilizer necessary?
I am writing in response to your recent article highlighting Buck Malick and his statements on cutting phosphorus are the key to healthy rivers and lakes.By Susan Hertogs, Town of Hudson , August 27, 2010
No parking signs
I am a resident of Hudson and pay taxes and walk on River Ridge Road just about every day. It has no-parking signs along one side of the road, but a couple of months ago, they installed no-parking signs along the other side too. They were up less than a month, then suddenly taken down.By Teresa Dietz, City of Hudson , August 27, 2010
Problems and Solutions
A youthful highlight for me in 1930 was attending the grand opening of the now controversial Stillwater bridge.By Richard “Dick” Peulen, City of Hudson , August 27, 2010
Praises for Denny Toll
I have been involved in countless conversations regarding the resignation of Associate Principal Denny Toll from Hudson High School. Without exception, everyone agrees that the Hudson High School will not be the same without such a great guy.

Anything’s true on Net
I’ve been reading the letters to the editors for some years now. A common thread runs through them. All the writers are very earnest, some quote scripture as a source, some Internet sites and others just write, obviously getting their “facts” from somewhere.
