Disc golf course soon disappearing from Willow River State Park
The disc golf course at Willow River State Park will be removed this fall, park officials said Wednesday. The activity has proved to be incompatible with traditional park offerings.

Scouts prepare site for statue
A group of Scouts from the Phoenix Patrol of Troop 140 met at Lakefront Park Aug. 22 to dig trenches and install conduit tubing for the electrical wiring to the lights around the McKenzie Scout Statue being installed in Lakefront Park in the coming weeks.

Art students design new Lakefront flower planters
The Hudson Park Board on June 2 approved replacing the two flower planters that now stand in front of the Hudson arch with two new planters designed by local residents and UW-River Falls art students Jesse and Nadia Hoffman.

Scuba divers, Boy Scouts pull Eurasian milfoil from Perch Lake
Roughly 20 people dove into Perch Lake on June 20 to help rid the beach of Eurasian milfoil. The scuba divers, organized by Terry Nooner, owner of St. Croix Scuba in Hudson, pull weeds three times a year in an effort to control the aquatic plant.

County parks offer free admission
Croix County is hosting a County Park Appreciation Weekend on Saturday and Sunday for all park visitors. Appreciation Weekend offers free vehicle admission for all visitors into the county’s three staffed parks: Glen Hills Park, Troy Beach and Homestead Parklands on Perch Lake.
