Blaze hockey hosting August tournaments
The Blaze AAA Hockey Program, consisting of elite youth hockey players in western Wisconsin with teams divided by their birth years, is hosting tournaments Aug. 6-8 and Aug. 13-15 at the New Richmond Sports Center, Somerset Ice Arena and the St. Croix Recreational Center in Stillwater.

Tryouts in Hudson attract 70 hockey players
Over 70 hockey players from all over the country ranging in age from 16 to 20 hit the ice at the Hudson Civic Center over the weekend to battle for a roster spot with the expansion Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League.

Nineteen girls from the ages of 14 to 17 were chosen statewide to participate in USA Hockey’s girls’ national development camp this summer. Among them were local skaters Kate Beemer, Brittany Anderson, Hanna Gavic and Leah Patrick.

Youth can play with the pros at hockey fundraiser
At some point, every kid who laces up their hockey skates dreams about playing in the NHL. Whether kids realize that dream or not, they will have the unique opportunity to play with the pros in Hudson on Saturday, July 10 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at the Hudson Sports and Civic Center.

Dau leads Team Wisconsin back to hockey nationals
It’s déjà vu all over again for Hudson’s Ryan Dau. Dau, a junior at Hudson High School, led Team Wisconsin Minor to its second straight Central District Championship last month and a return trip to the USA Hockey National Championship Tournament this week in Woodbridge, Ill.

Hudson girl plays in world tourney
Megan DuBois, 12, recently played in the World Pee Wee Hockey Championship Tournament in Quebec City, Canada. Not only did she play, but was also the only girl on an all-boy team representing the Wisconsin Fire, based out of Somerset.
