Menomonie put 31 points on the scoreboard in the first quarter against Hudson Friday night on its way to a 67-39 victory over the Raiders in a Big Rivers Conference girls’ basketball game in Menomonie.
The Hudson Raiders girls’ hockey team opened its Big Rivers conference season with two home victories, 4-1 over Eau Claire/Altoona last Tuesday (Dec. 1) and 6-3 Saturday over Menomonie, to remain unbeaten on the season.
The Raider girls’ basketball team battled back from a 16-point deficit to cut Superior’s lead to six with under a minute remaining, but the comeback effort came up just short and the Spartans escaped with a 61-53 victory in the season opener.
A week isn’t a very long time to prepare for a season. But that’s what Raider girls’ basketball coach Beth Graskewicz and her squad face as they prepare for their season opener Friday afternoon (Nov. 27) against Superior.
The Hudson Volleyball Association will host an informational meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Hudson Middle School. The meeting is for girls ages 12 -18 interested in playing volleyball from January through April.
The Raider girls soccer team kicks off the 2009 season Thursday, April 2 at 4:30 p.m. at New Richmond. The team finally got outside for a practice Monday. That gave it three days to prepare for its first game of the season.
