Hudson wrestlers regional champs

Four Raider wrestlers earned individual titles and 12 Raiders moved on to the individual sectional as Hudson claimed the WIAA regional championship Saturday in Chippewa Falls. Hudson advances to face Wausau West in a WIAA team sectional Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Merrill. The winner advances to the WIAA State Team Tournament March 2-3 in Madison.

Badger greats in Hudson

Former Wildcat and Badger wrestlers, Kevin Black, left, and Trevor Brandvold, joined University of Wisconsin wrestling coach Barry Davis, right, at the inaugural Badger Wrestling Golf Outing, sponsored by the Badger Wrestling Club, at the Hudson Golf Club Saturday. Black is River Falls’ all-time career leader in wins and a four-time state champ who went on to earn All-American honors at the University of Wisconsin and currently owns and operates Victory School of Wrestling in River Falls. Brandvold, who is second on the Wildcat all-time career wins list and was a state champ as a senior, went on to become a two-time All-American and Big Ten champion with the Badgers and stayed with the program this year as an assistant coach.
