First State Bank and Trust opens in Hudson
Its history is strong and steady. First State Bank and Trust was founded in 1914 in Bayport, Minn., by a group of eight community leaders. Today, it has four locations: the original bank in Bayport, and branches in Stillwater, Oak Park Heights, Boutwell’s Landing and as of last week, Hudson.

Uptown Couture brings more high end class to downtown Hudson
Dallas, Texas, resident Paul McIntosh fell in love with the city of Hudson and with a woman who would become his wife when he was sent to Hudson for a six month job assignment. This week he will open Uptown Couture in the former Lillian’s location at 419 Second St.

A Hudson company has purchased the former Johnson Controls building in St. Croix Business Park and will be moving its operations there this summer. St. Croix Trading Co. designs, manufactures and imports area rugs from India.

Fashion Show raises $1,000 for The Phipps Center
Elan’s Spring Fashion Fusion style show raised $1,000 for The Phipps Center for the Arts. Over 100 people attended the April 24 show, featuring the store’s newest spring apparel.

Dragon Pearl owner John Kwok dies unexpectedly
The March 19 death of Kwok has resulted in a change of ownership at the Dragon Pearl Chinese Restaurant and left his well-liked wife, Helen, in mourning.
