Jason Fields called it before the first bite was taken. “I’m winning. This will be No. 5,” said the window salesman from Pontiac, Ill. Half an hour later, Fields was indeed a five-time Booster Days hot-dog-eating champion.
Booster Days is celebrated in Hudson this weekend, and the summer event offers citizens an opportunity to support one of the area’s hardest working groups — the Hudson Boosters. In turn, your support goes directly to benefit area youth.
The River Rats Water-ski Show Team will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4, on the St. Croix River next to the Lakefront Park beach. The audience can expect a lot of thrills and maybe a few high-speed spills.
The annual Hudson Booster Days celebration is scheduled Wedesday, July 1, through Sunday, July 5, with most activities planned in Lakefront Park. New to the schedule this year is a water ski show by the Twin Cities River Rats Saturday, July 4, beginning at 2 p.m.
Kim Heinemann will watch the Booster Days parade from a different angle this year. Instead of announcing the entries for viewers of local cable Channel 15 from the corner of Walnut and Second streets she’ll be riding in the parade, sitting on the back of a convertible.
