River Crest Elementary is only the second elementary school in the nation and the first in Wisconsin to earn the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) Gold Award from the U.S. Green Building Council, a third-party environmental certification organization.
As River Crest Elementary School is preparing to open for its second year, word came that the green, sustainably designed school has earned gold as in “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold” from the United States Green Building Council.
The Hudson School District has much to celebrate as was evidenced by
dignitaries on hand for the event. It is expected that River Crest Elementary School will be the first school in the state to reach the Gold level of LEED certification, the highest level available.
The Hudson School District is among the sponsors of a day-long training event called “Sustainable Building Projects: High Performance at Conventional Cost,” on Thursday, June 19, at Andersen Corporation’s training facility, 100 Fourth Ave. N., in Bayport, Minn.
