The Octagon House Museum Complex, 1004 Third St., opens for the 2009 tour season Friday, May 1. In celebration of mothers, the Octagon House Museum is once again offering free tours for mothers accompanied by a paying child (of any age) on Mothers’ Day, Sunday, May 10, from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
There is something for everyone going on this weekend in Hudson. The annual Candlelight Stroll is Friday night from 6-9 p.m., the Octagon House Light Up Night goes from 6-8 p.m., and on Saturday, the popular Reindeer in the Park event will take place.
The St. Croix County Historical Society is hosting its annual Light Up Night Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. The evening includes tours of the Octagon House and two others in the neighborhood, the Phipps Inn across the street and the John Lee House a few blocks away.

One of the St. Croix County Historical Society’s most recent donations has an unusual connection to Hudson’s founder, Louis Massey. The donor is Isora Johnson of Hudson, who grew up as Isora Barkaloo on a farm in Pierce County, later married and raised her family on a farm near Roberts before relocating in Hudson.
