Opinion The Hudson High School class of 2013 –- over 400 students strong -- graduates Saturday night in ceremonies at Newton Field (HHS east gym in case of rain), and we wish each student the best in the years ahead.
Opinion Some of you might think I would be overjoyed at the recent developments, many of which I have already touched on in previous columns. My reaction is one of sadness really. The revelations should be chilling to every person in America.

Opinion Figures recently released showed some astounding numbers when it comes to local tourism. According to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, 2012 traveler spending in St. Croix County increased 8.87 percent to $81 million!
Opinion Additionally, this policy allows for printing and retrieval fees of such records to be waived for a board member if the records requested are necessary for the proper performance of the board member’s official duties and can be made available through reasonable expenditures of staff time and other resources.

Opinion There is a letter to the editor in this week’s Star-Observer from School Board member Sandy Gehrke, upset about the district’s request that she pay $428.54 for copies of paperwork. Gehrke might be viewed by some as a maverick on the board, but she was the choice of the voters.
Opinion We believe the jurors reached a good decision when they said that while they believed Aaron Schaffhausen, 35, suffers from mental illness, he knew what he was doing when he murdered his three daughters.
Opinion At the Star-Observer, we generally don’t use the word suicide unless the person dies in a very public place, is a person in the public eye or if the circumstances surrounding the suicide endanger the public. But maybe that should change.
