The Boy Scouts of America’s plan to erect a statue in Lakefront Park inched forward Monday night. The Hudson City Council adopted a policy that would allow the placement of statues like the one the Boy Scouts want to give to the city.
The City Council changed a policy at its July 21 meeting that was an irritant to Hudson boat owners. Under the new rule, city residents will be allowed to launch their boats at the Lakefront Park landing and park their trailers at their residences.
President Bush recently vetoed the Intelligence Authorization Bill that would prevent the CIA and other U.S. agencies from using “techniques” such as water-boarding, sexual humiliation, dogs, induced hypothermia and forced prolonged, stressful positions. Surprisingly, when vetoing this legislation he stated that, “The United States does not torture.” One wonders, what else could this be?
