A conservation group has named the Wild and Scenic Lower St. Croix River as one of the 10 most threatened rivers in the nation. The group that made the determination is called American Rivers, a conservation organization based in Washington, D.C.
Many people agree on counting the Kinnickinnic River as a precious local resource. Few people think of the “Kinni” as being part of the St. Croix River Basin watershed, but a Thursday, April 16, conference spotlights the basin.
The Wisconsin and Minnesota Departments of Transportation (WisDOT/MnDOT) recently released the Annual Project Summary Report for the St. Croix River Crossing Project, which includes updates on the project from March 2008 through February 2009.
Strategies for long-term protection of the St. Croix River will be presented at the ninth annual St. Croix Basin Protection Conference, scheduled from 9 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at UW-River Falls in the University Center. Sponsoring the conference are the university and the multi-agency St. Croix Basin Water Resources Planning Team.
